England Hockey - Trans And Non Binary Policy

Changes to Policy

The basic summary of the change is that as of the 2025/6 season, all England hockey tournaments will no longer be categorised as "mens" and "womens" but will be

‘Female’ and ‘Open’

The definitions are :

Female category: this category is for those participants recorded female at birth (which would include trans men) not undergoing hormone treatment.

Open category: which is open to all including those participants recorded male at birth, recorded female at birth (regardless of whether they have undergone hormone therapy), and those who identify as transgender or non-binary.

Below you will find a copy of the england hockey policy, along with the accompanying guidance.

If you have any issues or queries, please contact our welfare officer on welfare@stiveshockeyclub.co.uk

Note this only affects tournaments where there is a sex divide - at our junior development days where we have mixed teams etc, there is no change.
