Ladies 4 vs Wisbech Town 3

St Ives Ladies 4 - Away at Wisbech

The team took to the A141 to Wisbech to play Wisbech Ladies 3’s. The journey was uneventful and even the traffic lights were on our side to allow us a clear run out this morning.

Helen led the teams warm up and the team had their team chat to get our heads in the game.

St ives received first push back with Pauline opening up the game. After just 13 minutes, St Ives received a short corner resulting in the score reflecting in our favour.

St Ives carried on working as a team and holding play in Wisbech’s half. After 18 minutes of play, St ives saw a further goal scored from a field goal by Emma.

Again, St Ives received a short corner awarded, though play was broken down, Pauline got the play back in the attack and scored a further field goal for St Ives.

Unfortunately, we conceded a goal to Wisbech 2 minutes to half time but didn’t allow this to knock us.

At half time, our team talk was extremely positive and complimentary of the teams play. Showing stills from training and working together to ensure our attack was strong. We knew that the goal from Wisbech would be driving their team chat and needed to go into the second half strong.

The second half opened up and St Ives continued to work together. There was more talk on the pitch and the game continued to reflect great team play. All players really put on their shift and this showed in the holding of the score board.

5 minutes to the end of play, Wisbech scored again taking the score board to 3:2 to St Ives. We kept the score to the full time whistle and came away with a win.

We refuelled with teas in Wisbech club house and voted for our player of the match. St Ives ladies 4 welcomed new player Ale to the team and she was awarded man of the match for great play.

The drive home offered a different perspective (got to observe the trees from the revers angle) of the A141 with some of the team playing follow the leader (or in this case captain Anne) up until St Ives turn off.

Well played to all the team!

Rest up and don’t put the sticks away to collect cobwebs - they are needed again tomorrow.
