St Ives 2 (O) vs Cambridge South 3 O

With the first league game of the season, Open 2s set out against Cambridge South to open the season strong. With high hopes from a learning curve of a last season we got down to business, unfortunately, South scored first after a scrap in the D, but we were having none of it! Keeping pressure high right from the restart. With Midfield being locked down, this allowed our killer forwards to take a comback with thanks to David Land. We then quickly extended out lead before the second half by non other than last year’s captain Ben Pearson! Making the score 2-1 at half time.

After some inspiring words of wisdom from DJ we set out to take control of the second half, in our own ways…

Jacob P managed to get a yellow for a questionable tackle, which did however prevent a short corner so we take it! And Jack B running from end to end after getting creative with 3D skills in a corner and making a fool of himself, to making it worse by stopping South by going into the D by any means necessary with literal seconds left on the clock, leaving his heart in his mouth as we won our first game of the season, first in a year, making us….. 🥁🥁🥁 NOT BOTTOM OF THE TABLE

At the end of the day, we walked away victorious with a 2-1 victory and straight into a club social. Shoutout to Ian and Lewis for their first win with St Ives 👏
