After a couple of substitutions, St Ives earned themselves a short corner. Tactical genius Matt J set up a plan which Pete Y slotted away in the bottom corner. Unfortunately, in the final quarter of the first half, St Ives’ star midfielder went for a challenge which resulted in a swollen hand and had to come off the pitch to put some ice onto it.
The second half started strong with St Ives forcing a good opportunity right at the start through pressure at the top however, it was failed to be converted. To St Ives Delight, the star man in the middle braved the pitch again, playing through the pain to help the lads secure the 3 points. Both sides had opportunities in the second half with it often coming to a stalemate in the final third of the pitch. Pete Y picked up the ball at the top of the D only holding the stick with his one working hand, he managed to rifle a shot towards goal which the opposition Goalkeeper did not see coming as it bobbled through his legs to make it 2-1 to St Ives. It was looking good towards the end of the game for St Ives until a string of short corners late on eventually led to the opposition bringing the score level to 2-2.
