St Ives Dominate Dereham - Rory Mooney grabs 4 goals

St Ives made it three wins in a row with a dominant 5-1 victory over Dereham - another team that was playing Premier League hockey last season. St Ives were able to play through the Dereham press with relative ease and found willing runners upfront. The first goal was from neatly worked interplay between the forwards, finished off by Rory Mooney from close range. From the restart, Alex Prestage pinched the ball in midfield after a great step through, found Pete Liddle who selflessly squared past the keeper for Rory Mooney for a tap-in. Ives made it 3-0 before half time with another close range finish by Rory Mooney for his hattrick after good build-up play by Adam Stefanelli-Wilson.

The wave of St Ives attacks continued in the second half with the midfield linking well with the forwards. Simon Johnson and Simon Shorter both put their bodies on the line to keep Dereham out when they did manage to create chances. Rory Mooney returned the favour to set up Peter Liddle for Ives fourth goal before scoring his fourth and Ives fifth after a Dereham defender put into his own goal after being fooled by a piece of skill in the D. Dereham were able to score a consolation goal

Man of the match went to Rory Mooney for his scintillating form in front of goal, grabbing 4 goals and setting up the fifth.

Next up are Pelicans, who are currently third in the league with an unbeaten record.
