St Ives travelled in the scorching heat to a bouncy Saffron Walden pitch for this non league non Cup match. The game started late which was lucky for the uncharacteristically late DOD Ranner
Saffron Walden started the better of the two sides applying some early pressure and if not for some good defending from the rotating JT, Greg, Carl and Jago and some excellent keeping from MOTM Adam St Ives could have been in trouble.
St Ives did creste a few decent chances on the break with good combination play from JW, Ranner, Aaron and Pawson creating one or two near chances where the final pass just didn't quite run for them.
The 1st goal for Saffron Walden is frankly a blur of heat however the 2nd goal is memorable. A drag flick straight down the middle saw Drylie waving his hands in the air like he was at a disco before moving his Head out of the way to let It in.
St Ives grew into the 2nd half and created some good late pressure. Nice hold up play from Hingston saw young Aaron waltz into the area and slot home from close range. St Ives could have snatched something from the game had our passing been more accurate. Final score 2-1.
